  Difference Between Linux and Windows

Linux kernel is developed by the community. Linus Torvalds oversees things.
Windows developed by MICROSOFT.
Linux is distributed by various vendors.
Windows is distributed by MICROSOFT.
Linux is support Ext2, Ext3, Ext4, Jfs, ReiserFS,  Xfs, Btrfs, FAT, FAT32, NTFS file system.
Windows is support FAT, FAT32, NTFS, exFAT file system.
BASH (Bourne Again SHell) is the Linux default shell. It can support multiple command interpreters.
Windows uses a command shell and each version of Windows has a single command interpreter with dos-like commands, recently there is the addition of the optional PowerShell that uses more Unix-like commands.
Linux default user interface is Gnome or KDE (Depends on distro)
Windows default interface is Graphical (Windows Aero).
Linux source model is open source.
Windows source model is Shared source.
One issue that is slowly becoming nonexistent is hardware support.
Windows, you know that most every piece of hardware will work with the operating system
Till date, there are around 80 to 100 viruses reported in the Linux.
In windows more than 70,000 viruses are been reported till date.
Linux uses Monolithic kernel.
Windows have Microkernel.The kernel processes are known as servers in this.
